Aquatinic Nourishing
SEA-LIGHT, A Revolutionary Marine Aquarium Fluorescent: Another Lighting Wonder
from the Makers of Vita-Lite. The Only lamp specifically designed to replicate
natural ocean light conditions inside salt-water tanks.
A lamp so precisely
engineered that it actually replicates the spectrum and color temperature of
natural daylight when filtered through clean ocean water, providing excellent
color rendition for viewing pleasure!
Full-spectrum
Vita-Lite lighting is best in fresh-water aquariums, but it does not meet the
special environmental light requirements of the delicate salt-water biological
ecosystems of marine plants, fish and coral.

Aquatinic Nourishing SEA-LIGHT For Salt-Water Aquariums by DuroLite, Natural
Light For Living Things.
Every so often, a product is so innovative that it puts an entire industry in a
totally different light. For Marine hobbyists and aquarium retailers such a
product is DuroLite’s new Aquatinic marine aquarium fluorescent. A lamp so
precisely engineered that it actually replicates the spectrum and color
temperature of natural daylight when filtered through clean ocean water,
providing excellent color rendition for viewing pleasure!
The Lamp Marine Hobbyists Have Been Looking For. Marine aquarists know how
important it is to have the right lighting in an artificial tank environment,
not only to appreciate the splendid colors of vertebrates and invertebrates, but
also to maintain the proper level of nutrients marine organisms require. But
despite the wide array of products to pick from, no one lamp has been able to
deliver both benefits.
Full-spectrum Vita-Lite lighting is best in fresh-water aquariums, but it does
not meet the special environmental light requirements of the delicate salt-water
biological ecosystems of marine plants, fish and coral.
Ordinary actinic lamps, which stimulate photosynthesis and nourishment by
enhancing the blue portion of the color spectrum, cause color
distortions...diminishing much of the hobbyists’ pleasure, as well as their
ability to monitor the physical condition of marine organisms.
Some enthusiasts have even resorted to outfitting tanks with two, three or even
four types of lamps in an attempt to strike the right balance. Now, with the
arrival of Aquatinic Marine Aquarium Fluorescents, hobbyists can get both
nourishing light levels and excellent color rendition...in a single tube.
Created by the Makers of Vita-Lite, Aquatinic was developed by the same company
who invented Vita-Lite...still the finest general purpose fluorescent on the
market...and other fine products for Duro-Lite, the leading supplier of quality
lighting to the pet and aquarium industry throughout the United States.
After 2 1/2 years of research, blending phosphors and testing lamps in various
types of salt water tanks owned by hobbyists and aquarium retailers just like
you, our researchers arrived at the perfect formula, a lamp color temperature
and spectral distribution that simulates the effect of natural daylight filtered
below the ocean surface.
Sea Light in a Fluorescent Tube because Aquatinic is the closest thing to
natural filtered “sea-light”, it provides a more natural, nourishing
environment for marine fish and colorful invertebrates such as live corals,
sponges and sea anemones.
Aquatinic light includes the deep blue ”actinic” portion of the color
spectrum (400-500nm), with just the right amount of stimulating, actinic
spectral energy...the same light energy which has fostered ocean plant and
animal life throughout the ages.
Aquatinic light offers a balanced, non-distorted color spectrum that offers an
extremely high color rendering index of 91 (7500K phase of natural daylight =
100) so viewers can monitor and appreciate the full beauty of marine organisms
as they appear in nature.
The Next Best Thing to Mother Nature! Comparison of spectral power distribution
(SPD) of Aquatinic Marine Aquarium Fluorescent Lamp with the relative spectral
penetration of light through clean ocean water.
The figure shows how closely Aquatinic’s spectral output simulates the light
spectrum as if occurs in nature when transmitted below the ocean surface. Ocean
water absorbs natural light strongly below 400nm and above 500nm, with the
highest transmission of light occurring between 400 and 500nm as shown. Note
that the additional red and green energy in Aquatinic provides enhanced color
rendition.

Aquatinic Marine Aquarium Fluorescents.
A Unique Blend of Five Rare Earth Phosphors. The quality of light emitted by a
fluorescent lamp depends on its “recipe” or mix of color-producing
phosphors. Most fluorescent lamps are manufactured with only three ordinary
phosphors. Aquatinic uses five...all of them high quality, rare earth phosphors,
artfully blended to simulate the exact type and amount of light which reaches
marine organisms under the ocean surface.
In addition to the patented formula of red, blue, green and blue-green light
primaries, Aquatinic features a unique “actinic,” deep blue phosphor which
provides just the right amount of energy needed for travel through ocean water.
UV phosphors, which are absorbed by ocean water, are deliberately left out. The
result? A fluorescent light offering a balanced color spectrum, excellent lumen
output, exceptionally high CRI (91), and 7500K color temperature.
